This Week's Update: 06/11/2009
Written by Noirin Curran
Nov 06, 2009 at 04:10 AM

It's Friday again, and it's November already! Good luck to those brave folks who are taking up the challenge and NaNoWriMo-ing and Movembering all over the place!

Continuing our efforts to bring you brand new, up-to-date scenarios, this week we have another RPG from Gaelcon 2009. "Countdown", a Mutants and Masterminds scenario, was written by a newcomer to IrishGaming.Com, although I'm sure he has plenty of other games stashed away somewhere, as he is by no means a newcomer to game writing! Some of our writers might recognise the name as the RPG Co-ordinator at Warpcon a few years back. Micheal Calnan is a Cork based gamer who just started a PhD in UCC this week. Having your first published game on IrishGaming.Com and starting a PhD - That sounds like a good week to me!

As Nick mentioned last week, he'll be heading to Dominicon and so will I, so come catch up with the IrishGaming.Com team in NUI Maynooth next weekend (13th-15th Nov) for Dominicon: In Spaaaaace!

This Week's Update - 30/10/2009 (belated)

Sorry for the late update! Halloween, post-Gaelcon, that sort of stuff... fill in your own lame-ass excuse here.

So Gaelcon came and went, and we all had a lovely time. Find out how much fun our Natural20 had in this week's article here

Of course, we've been busy bending scenario writers to our will and trying to siphon as many of the scenarios from the con out of them as possible! This week we present a scenario by a writer new to this site but not to the Irish Gaming Scene - Niamh "Noodle" Carey! Niamh's a tabletop writer, LARP writer, GM and con staffer with more enthusiasm in her little finger than this old fart has in his little finger. We're proud that she sent us "Ditches & Delph" which you can find here!

Con season is now upon us, and it's Dominicon next on the list. Dominicon has been for the past couple of years the one that I bring my son to, so perhaps we'll see you there!

This Week's Update - 16/10/09

Gaelcon minus... seven days. And as usual, a whole country of gamers is getting ready for our largest event of the year. Non-Dublin-based people are preparing to make the trek from all around Ireland, and there will be a pile of people from further afield coming too.

I've been going to Gaelcon for sixteen years now, since I moved back to Ireland in 1993. And it's become something of a fixture in my calendar each year. Even for the couple of years that I didn't go I met friends who had already been, and we hung out. Gaelcon is a reason to get together with friends and a place to pick up games. You'll see something you haven't seen before, and you'll have a good time. It's kept me coming back for a long time, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. Arguably, Gaelcon is the reason that IrishGaming.Com exists as a resource. So if you're not planning to go, and you call yourself a gamer, and you're in Ireland, get your ass into gear and get planning the trip! Tell them Nick sent you, and you can buy me that pint we discussed last week.

But you didn't come here to listen to me wax lyrical about my "home" convention, right? It's update time - and this week we've got two scenarios. "Burnout" for Conspiracy X from ConFESS 2009 by Wayne O'Connor, ace scenario writer and even more ace artist. We've also got "Fear Us For We Are Acolytes" by prolific scenario writer and rubber-sword LARPer Tadeusz Cantwell - it's a Dark Heresy game from Gaelcon last year. Lastly (but far from leastly) we've a new "Natural20's Random Thought Table", this week focussing on... well... Gaelcon.

Anyone would think they were paying us.
